Tsukiji wholesalers cooperative chief says the relocation of the market to Toyosu is unlikely now in view of the detection of excessive toxic substances at the site.
Yutaka Hayama, new president of the Wholesales Co-operative of Tokyo Market -- the middle wholesalers' cooperative at Tokyo's legendary Tsukiji Fish Market -- said that the planned relocation of Tsukiji market to Toyosu is “unthinkable” at this moment as levels of benzene far exceeding environmental standards have been detected from the underground water at the relocation site...
