As Herring Season Opens, Japan Inventory of Salted Kazunoko is 10% Higher Than Last Year

In Japan, the salted kazunoko stockpile carried over from 2016 is now 10% from a year before
Inventory of salted kazunoko (herring roe) carried over from 2016 in Japan totaled 3,437 tons, up 10% from a year before, according to the Fisheries Agency's cold-store seafood distribution statistics.
The agency said this was the highest increase rate on record.
Inventories in the first half of the year stayed below the year-before level, but since July, monthly inventories have trended higher.
