U.S. Secretary of Commerce Provides $65 Million for 2017-2019 Fishery Disaster Relief
The United States Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced the allocation of $64 million to fishing communities in Alaska, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and the Yurok Tribe, which suffered fishery disasters between 2017 and 2019.
NOAA used commercial revenue loss information to allocate the funding that was eligible for disaster relief. NOAA also said it took into consideration traditional uses that cannot be accounted for in commercial revenue loss alone.
